Tiny tales of the objects we find, love, and bring back to life.

Who I Am

I’m a Swinnertons Majestic Vellum plate, 23 cm wide, 355 g of English earthenware charm. Across my creamy surface, three budgerigars perch among berries and leaves, painted in soft greens, blues, and yellows. I’m cheerful, delicate, and unmistakably mid‑century. A celebration of everyday beauty in Staffordshire ceramics.

Where I was Found

I was waiting quietly in a charity shop, stacked beneath heavier plates, my colours hidden from sight. For a long while, no one noticed the little birds singing softly across my glaze. Then my scalloped green edge peeked just enough from the pile to catch a curious eye. I was lifted at last, a small spark of potential revealed, and suddenly, I was seen again.

What I Remember

I’ve served countless cups of tea and slices of cake, in sunlit kitchens where laughter echoed.

My rim has felt the warmth of gatherings, my surface the gentle plating of afternoon sandwiches, surrounded by friends, family, and conversation. I remember being loved, then forgotten, then found anew.

How I Was Made

Born in Staffordshire, England, under the Swinnertons name, a maker known for grace and durability. My Majestic Vellum body was fired to a soft ivory tone, then adorned with hand‑applied transfers of budgies and berries. Each brushstroke carries the optimism of post‑war design, nature rendered in colour and calm.

Where I Belong Now

I belong in a home that delights in small wonders. A place where vintage charm meets quiet joy. I’m ready to rest on a dresser, hang upon a wall, or serve afternoon tea with a touch of whimsy. Wherever I go next, I’ll bring a whisper of nostalgia and the gentle company of budgerigars to brighten your everyday rituals.

What I Want You to Know

I was made to brighten ordinary moments, to remind you that beauty often hides in plain sight. If I bring a smile to your face and joy to your heart, then I have found my perch once again.

If you choose me, I’ll bring a small, steady joy to your everyday rituals, a quiet companion with birds that never stop singing.
